Dialogue 2: Another party, whom
we shall call MYSTIC B, engages the ever-gullible AGNOSTIC in
speculation. |
MYSTIC B: | I'm convinced there are
imperceptible gremlins in the Oval Office.* |
AGNOSTIC: | Well, if they are
imperceptible, how do you know they are there? |
MYSTIC B: | I can't prove they are
there, of course. In fact, I really don't have any evidence or
logic for the idea at all. But can you prove they are not
there? |
AGNOSTIC: | OK. So it is possible that
they are there, although improbable. |
MYSTIC B: | So if there is no evidence one
way or the other as to the existence of something, you at least
accept it as a possibility? |
