More generally, a free market promotes all the virtues discussed in Section 3:
- Thinking: Only a free society and a free market enable individuals fully to translate thought into action and to experience the practical consequences of their thinking processes. Such a system benefits those who choose to think and confers no unearned benefits on those who choose to evade the responsibility of thought.
- Rationality: Freedom permits those whose beliefs, values, and actions are based on rational judgment to reap the full rewards, whether realized as outward wealth or as inner happiness.
- Independence: As was seen repeatedly in Section 4, the highest success in the free market is achieved by those producers, investors, and consumers who think for themselves, rather than following the herd or placing blind, irrational faith in some authority.
