This course integrates ideas developed through decades of study of philosophy, current events, social science, history, and psychology. Although contributions of many thinkers are cited, the principles discussed ultimately represent a distillation of the
author's own experience and analysis, and much of the material is presented from a highly original perspective. The student (like the author) should take nothing for granted, reexamining all premises, logic, and conclusions. The validity of the conclusions rests, not on the author's opinions, but on the processes of observation and reasoning from which they derive.
